I was parked in Rome in recent years on the road I have just rent cars in Italy, so my information is Italy-oriented , but the concepts really be applied in Europe (though if I were planning to drive on the highway I smoothly and quickly would hire something.)

, before you commit yourself, rental of cars look at where you plan to date. Europe has the most brilliant train systems, with a network of fast trains from country to country and city to city, and then smaller trains within the cities and their out lying areas. If you are planning large cities, I don't even think to rent you a car meets.
at last year's Corinna B world Glam Italia tour we roam car in Sicily, the Amalfi coast, and for a few days in Tuscany. Otherwise, it was all trains.

driving in Italy is great fun as long you don't have to drive in Rome or Naples! I have literally run over the length and breadth of Italy many times in the past few years, and have as such a list of

Re: question about Veni

* in any case, I recommend always your rental car at the Airport pick up. They have easier access to the motorways, and often not airports close for the day, when they stranded not many postings, you! (this happened to US once in Florence)

* a diesel - they hire costs so much less to run! Cars over there getting gas mileage to far better.

* a small vehicle to rent, not in the United States, larger size. Cities, towns and villages have over smaller, narrower roads and small parking lots. On my last trip, we rented a XLs Fiat 500, Fiat 500 and small Citroëns that were so fun to drive and you can park them anywhere! The year before I had an alpha Romeo was faster than the devil.

[19459003mietete] * the maximum insurance to buy. I've read about people who retain their passports until they come up with €3000 deductible! The locals are not necessarily appropriate, crash into you, but other travellers are!

* do not rely on Siri for GPS. It is relatively good, but missing some great stuff. The motorway exits over there are miles apart, so your output take an hour of your trip.
use Siri read the next instruction before the time - they have shorter distances and more cars, so you have to know which direction turn awhile before you get there, or it can be a mess!

* keep many coins on hand. They go through are many toll booths on highways, and they change sometimes just not cards. The exchange rate and international charges on your credit cards make it also absolutely not worth it.

* If you make scooters for rent you would sure they gave to your international drivers liscence. If it do not specify that you have to enable a scooter one is not in many places rent.
