there is no time like the beginning of a new year to rethink everything in your life, including your skin care.

whether you are a minimalist skin care, or like me, a total skin care junkie, its time to take stock of what you have determines what needs to go and find out what you are going to be invested in.

some of my friends can do this in less than 2 seconds-they have a cleaning solution and a moisturizer , it is
I recently spent a whole night makes my. It was ridiculous and amazing. Ridiculously fabulous.

admittedly, I have not only my current skin care supply, but my travel skin care (my travel bag is always packed and ready to go), my pro makeup kit also supplies, my pending products, products sent to me to write about, and things I just have not been able to part with
I am a borderline skin care hoarder.

start the purge and move in in the new year:

1. Get all of your skin care products out and in one place.

2. Throw some old , something you haven't used in the last year, something that doesn't work for you anymore.

I'm terrible at keeping the last little bit of products I love. If they have not gone bad, use them up this month, otherwise trash them.

3. Eliminate something that has gone bad or no longer works for your skin.
A sidenote here: you will find that all that stands to benefit from you throw out products, which they can sell you more, will tell you all will expire in a few months and tell you to throw them out.

4. store what you have so you can make a list of what you need.
(in the morning we will look at how to build a skin care wardrobe)

how to tell if skin care products have G a bad

most skin care products has an estimated shelf life of one year after they have been opened. The fewer preservatives they contain, the shorter the life. I have had many products last a lot longer, but if not stored properly or be handled the right skin care products can go bad much faster.
they have probably gone bad if:
1. They look funny. If something seems odd and I won't risk to put it on my face.
2. Programs.
a skin care product that separated (unless it is intended for) has probably gone bad.
3. The texture is changed. Something creamy that is now flowing, products thickening etc.
4. They have visible signs of spores or other crops.
(you'll be surprised at how often people show me their lotions and potions and I see bacteria grow in or on them!)
5. They smell. If it does smell right, throw it away.

active ingredients such as retinols and glycolics can actually get more potent as their bases degrde, punctuation or evaporate.

how to save your skin care products

save skin care products in the same way that you should save your Perfume: unless the directions say otherwise, keep them in a cool dark cupboard, from heat and direct sunlight.
I keep some of my eyes masks and eye gels in the refrigerator, but it is in large part because they feel nice when they go on the cold.
